Property management company becomes multi-disciplinary ABS

A London property management company has become the first of its kind to be multi-disciplinary Alternative Business Structure (ABS).

Crabtree Property Management was recently granted a license by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), and joined the Co-operative as the only non-legal business with a licence.

Crabtree has set up Crabtree Law, run by its in house lawyer James Naylor. It is currently offering fixed-fee property litigation services to its clients, while also attracting new clients to the business.

Mr Naylor, who has been with Crabtree for a year and is director of Crabtree Law, said the new business structure gave him the opportunity to work with clients other than those referred by his employer.

Mr Naylor will be running the service on his own, which is why it will only be offering property litigation services at this point. He believes there is demand in the property world for “good service at a modest and more certain cost.”

Crabtree’s licence came into force from 1 September.
